Summary

  • Location: Valencia (Spain)
  • Year: 2021
  • Initiator: Empresa Municipal de Transportes (EMT)

Objective

The objective of the new protocol is to "improve the safety of users, guaranteeing that everyone is treated with equality, respect and dignity on municipal buses". To this end, a telephone number (628.051.047) has been set up, visible inside all vehicles, to make it easier for the victim to report the facts quickly by WhatsApp or Telegram.

Measure

The Municipal Transport Company (EMT) has implemented an action protocol for cases of sexual violence against users. A specific telephone number has been set up (628.051.047), which will be visible inside all vehicles, to make it easier for the victim to report the facts quickly via WhatsApp or Telegram, and EMT staff will have specific guidelines to provide assistance to anyone who has suffered any aggression.

Result

During the month of March, an information campaign has been carried out at street level to publicize this protocol and also the violet stops service, which allows users to request a stop on demand on night lines, so that the bus leaves it at a point closer to its destination.
