Summary

  • Location: Valencia (Spain)
  • Year: 2021
  • Initiator: Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV)

Objective:

Voice messages make it easier for the visually impaired to travel on the network, as they can travel with greater autonomy and comfort. The aim is to provide information in all possible formats so that it is fully accessible to all.

Measure

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has launched an initiative whereby the external public address system on Metrovalencia trains announces the metro line they are serving and their destination at each station or halt, with the aim of providing information to people with impaired vision. The voice message is activated when the unit is stopped at the station or halt and the driver enables the doors to open.

With this system, which is being implemented progressively and which has been worked on with ONCE, visually impaired people have the same information that all users can read on the teleindicators in the stations and at the head of the metro units.
