Overview

  • Location: Lithuania
  • Year: Now
  • Initiator: National Institute for Social Integration

Background

Disabled people usually face social detachment because of the lack of mobility possibilities.

Goal

Making mobility easier for people with disabilities.

Measure

The National Institute for Social Integration launched an initiative to provide transportation, assistance and accompaniment of disabled people.

Outcome

People with mobility disabilities can now use the social taxi service. The driver and the assistant will help them enter the vehicle, transport them to the desired location, help them return home and help them climb the stairs if needed. This measure will help disabled people to socialize, perform desired activities as well as feel independent, and what is extremely important for disabled people, feel as a full member of the society.
