Design Brief: Inclusive Lighting Solutions to Support Women in Appointment Booking
Project Aim:
To design an inclusive, supportive product that addresses inequality in healthcare appointment booking by improving the physical environment—specifically through lighting—tailored to the needs of diverse women.
Background & Opportunity:
Booking healthcare appointments can be a source of anxiety, especially for women facing language barriers or navigating unequal systems. Environmental factors like poor lighting can increase stress and confusion. There’s an opportunity to redesign this experience to foster clarity and confidence.
Target Audience:
Women, particularly those from diverse backgrounds, who may experience anxiety or inequality when booking healthcare appointments.
Design Focus:
Redesign lighting environments to offer extra support during daytime booking experiences, helping to ease anxiety and enhance communication clarity.
Purpose & Outcomes:
- Address inequality through inclusive design.
- Ensure clarity in spaces where appointments are booked.
- Support women facing language barriers and stress.
- Create a more welcoming, equitable booking environment.
Approach:
- Work with mentors who bring relevant personal insight into diversity and women’s healthcare experiences.
- Further develop an existing company-owned concept into a tangible product.
- Develop and register a new product that is both functional and impactful.
