Suitcase Friendly Seats. Designed for the TInnGO project by Ronald Jurianto

Topic DesignSafety and securityWomen needs in transport

As part of a larger series of ideas tackling belonging management issues on buses, this design creates a better experience for users carrying suitcases. Compared to the current solution of luggage shelves, this proposed idea induces less anxiety as owners remain very close with their belongings. The complexity and physical intensity required to secure suitcases is also greatly reduced as users are only expected to lift their seat base instead of their whole luggage. The folded seat base simultaneously serves as a shelf suitable for smaller suitcases, whereas ridges on the floor ensures bigger suitcases remain stationary under the seat.
